After completing reading all the chapters in Doyle’s book, I have now realized that the concepts I have read are also being implemented in my university. Our curriculum has also been updated with some modifications. Students used to memorize the text book and pass the exams without practical knowledge. The new curriculum is mostly based on practical assignments, group work and discussions (Barton, Heilker & Rutowski, 2008). We are also using manikins in teaching our medical students the practical part. At the end of an examination, each student is given a feedback form to evaluate the course as well as the instructor (Doyle, 2011, p.61). The students should not write their names in the feedback form.
Though we have some resistance from instructors, the College of Medicine through the Medical Education Unit, organizes workshops titled “Train the Trainer” in order to familiarize the instructors with the use of multimedia in teaching the medical students.
Change takes sometimes, I am confident that within the next two years, our only state university will have all the lectures and materials online. I am in favor of implementing the pilot software in the university.
As Doyle suggests in chapter 12 Getting Others to Embrace LCT, we have started implementing this. Kindly view the link below:
